Responsibilities
- Receive intensive paid training in emergency protocols, radio operations, and computer-aided dispatch systems
- Process 911 calls with precision and empathy, gathering critical information from distressed callers
- Coordinate police, fire, and EMS resources during emergencies using multi-agency communication systems
- Maintain detailed logs of all incidents, communications, and resource deployments
- Operate complex radio equipment and dispatch software simultaneously
- Remain calm and professional during high-stress situations and mass-casualty events
- Collaborate with law enforcement officers, firefighters, and medical personnel
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- US citizenship and valid DC driver's license
- Pass thorough background check and drug screening
- Typing speed of 40+ WPM (will be tested)
- Ability to work rotating shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays
- Exceptional communication and active listening skills
- Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously with minimal supervision
- No felony convictions or misdemeanor domestic violence charges
