Responsibilities
- Receive and Process Calls: Answer incoming emergency and non-emergency calls efficiently, gathering critical information using the Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD) system.
- Dispatch Units: Coordinate the response of police officers, fire services, and medical units to incidents in a timely and accurate manner.
- Monitor Communications: Continuously monitor police radio frequencies and telemetry systems to maintain situational awareness.
- Log and Record: Maintain accurate, up-to-date logs and records of all calls, dispatches, and unit status.
- Assist with Training: Under the supervision of senior dispatchers, shadow, learn, and assist in the daily operations of the communications center.
Qualifications
- Education: High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to speak clearly and concisely under pressure.
- Computer Literacy: Basic computer skills and typing proficiency (minimum 35-40 WPM).
- Stamina: Ability to remain calm and composed in high-stress, emergency situations.
- Availability: Must be available to work rotating shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
