Responsibilities
- Receive & Process Calls: Answer, screen, and accurately process emergency and non-emergency calls for service from the public.
- Dispatch Operations: Dispatch law enforcement, fire, and medical units to appropriate locations based on incident details and unit availability.
- Maintain Logs: Ensure accurate and timely recording of all dispatch activities, calls for service, and incident reports in the CAD system.
- Radio Communication: Maintain clear, professional, and concise communication with field officers via radio and telephone.
- Crisis Management: Provide critical information and support to callers in distress, maintaining composure during high-stress situations.
- Unit Coordination: Monitor patrol unit locations and status to optimize response times and resource allocation.
- Public Assistance: Assist the public with general information, directions, and non-emergency assistance.
Qualifications
- Age Requirement: Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Education: High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
- Driver's License: Valid California Driverβs License required.
- Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to speak clearly and listen attentively.
- Computer Literacy: Basic computer skills and the ability to learn new software systems quickly.
- Stamina: Ability to sit for extended periods and work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Professionalism: High level of emotional stability and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
