Responsibilities
- Receive and process incoming emergency and non-emergency calls for service with accuracy and urgency.
- Dispatch law enforcement, fire, and medical units to incidents using a Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD) system.
- Maintain constant vigilance over radio frequencies to monitor unit status and request backup when necessary.
- Enter and update incident reports, field notes, and status information into departmental databases.
- Provide timely and accurate information to responding units and other agencies to facilitate successful outcomes.
- Support the Training Division by observing and learning from senior dispatchers during the probationary period.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent required; completion of post-secondary education in criminal justice or communications is a plus.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to speak clearly over a radio.
- Ability to remain composed and make quick, sound decisions under stressful and high-pressure conditions.
- Proficiency with computer systems, specifically Microsoft Office Suite and computer-aided dispatch software.
- Valid Washington State Driverβs License and a clean driving record.
