What You Will Do:
- Receive and Prioritize Calls: Accurately answer and triage incoming emergency and non-emergency calls to ensure rapid response.
- Dispatch Emergency Units: Coordinate the deployment of police, fire, and medical units to incidents using computer-aided dispatch systems.
- Maintain Logs: Document all calls, dispatches, and unit status in the department’s records management system.
- Radio Communication: Maintain constant communication with field units and ensure information is relayed accurately.
- Public Assistance: Provide critical information, directions, and support to citizens during crises.
Responsibilities
- Receive and triage incoming emergency and non-emergency calls to ensure rapid response times.
- Dispatch law enforcement, fire, and medical units to incident locations using CAD systems.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all calls, dispatches, and unit status.
- Communicate effectively with field personnel, supervisors, and the general public via radio and telephone.
- Monitor district activity and provide updates to incoming units as situations evolve.
- Assist in the training and orientation of new dispatch personnel.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
- Valid Washington State Driver’s License with a clean driving record.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to speak clearly under pressure.
- Ability to multi-task and maintain focus in a high-stress, fast-paced environment.
- Basic computer literacy and aptitude for learning new software systems.
- Willingness to work rotating shifts, holidays, weekends, and overtime as required.
