Responsibilities
- Receive and prioritize emergency/non-emergency calls via 911 and administrative lines
- Dispatch police units using CAD systems and radio communication protocols
- Maintain accurate incident logs and status tracking in real-time
- Coordinate with multiple agencies (EMS, Fire, Hospitals) during critical incidents
- Provide crisis intervention and calming instructions to callers in distress
- Operate complex communication equipment and multi-line phone systems
- Adhere to NENA and NCAP standards for emergency call handling
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
- Ability to pass background check and drug screening
- Typing speed of 40+ WPM with accuracy
- Excellent active listening and de-escalation skills
- Ability to work rotating shifts including nights/holidays
- U.S. citizenship and valid Kentucky driver's license
- Clear speaking voice and ability to maintain composure under pressure
- No felony convictions and clean driving record
