Responsibilities
- Answer emergency and non-emergency calls, accurately assess situations, and dispatch appropriate resources
- Operate radio systems, computer-aided dispatch (CAD), and emergency alert technologies
- Provide clear, concise instructions to callers during critical incidents
- Maintain detailed logs of all communications and activities
- Coordinate with law enforcement, fire, and medical personnel during emergencies
- Participate in ongoing training to stay current on protocols and procedures
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
- Ability to pass background check and drug screening
- Minimum typing speed of 40 WPM with accuracy
- Strong communication and active listening skills
- Ability to remain calm and make decisions under pressure
- Basic computer literacy and technical aptitude
- Valid Oregon driver's license (or ability to obtain within 30 days)
