Responsibilities
- Monitor and receive emergency and non-emergency calls via telephone, radio, and computer-aided dispatch (CAD) systems.
- Dispatch law enforcement, fire, and emergency medical personnel to incidents as quickly and accurately as possible.
- Enter and maintain accurate incident reports, logs, and status information in departmental databases.
- Provide critical information to first responders to ensure their safety and the safety of the public.
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers, officers, and citizens in high-stress situations.
- Assist in training new dispatch personnel as proficiency is gained.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Ability to type at least 40 words per minute.
- Valid Michigan driverβs license with a good driving record.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to remain calm and composed under pressure.
- No felony convictions or disqualifying criminal history (as per agency standards).
