Responsibilities
- Coordinate citywide emergency response operations including disease outbreaks, natural disasters, and public health crises
- Develop and maintain emergency response plans in compliance with federal/state regulations (FEMA, ISMP)
- Lead inter-departmental task forces including Fire, Police, OEMC, and community health organizations
- Execute crisis communication strategies across multiple channels (social, press releases, public alerts)
- Train and deploy emergency response teams with special focus on underserved communities
- Analyze incident data to improve response protocols and resource allocation
- Manage grant-funded emergency preparedness initiatives (CDC, HRSA)
- Conduct tabletop exercises and full-scale emergency drills
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Public Health, Emergency Management, or related field (Master's preferred)
- Minimum 5 years of experience in public health emergency response or crisis management
- Active certification in Incident Command System (ICS-400) and NIMS compliance
- Proven expertise in developing emergency response plans and SOPs
- Strong knowledge of Chicago's public health infrastructure and demographics
- Experience with emergency grant management and federal reporting requirements
- Ability to obtain Secret Clearance for sensitive public health operations
- Proficiency in GIS mapping and emergency management software (e.g., WebEOC)
