Responsibilities
- Develop and implement evidence-based health education programs targeting underserved Detroit neighborhoods
- Conduct epidemiological surveillance and analyze health data to identify emerging trends
- Collaborate with community organizations to address social determinants of health
- Manage grant-funded projects focused on maternal health and chronic disease prevention
- Prepare comprehensive reports for county commissioners and state health authorities
- Coordinate emergency response protocols during public health crises
- Mentor junior staff and supervise public health interns
Qualifications
- Master's degree in Public Health or related field (MPH preferred)
- 3+ years of experience in community health program implementation
- Certified in Public Health (CPH) or eligible for certification
- Proficiency in epidemiological software (e.g., SAS, R, or Epi-Info)
- Experience writing successful grant proposals for federal/state funding
- Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish or Arabic
- Valid Michigan driver's license with reliable transportation
- Ability to work flexible hours including evenings/weekends for community events
