Responsibilities
- Develop and execute comprehensive communication strategies for City departments and major initiatives
- Write, edit, and distribute press releases, newsletters, and public-facing materials
- Manage media relations, coordinate press conferences, and serve as primary spokesperson
- Oversee City social media platforms and digital communication channels
- Monitor media coverage and provide strategic counsel to City leadership
- Coordinate crisis communications and ensure timely dissemination of critical information
- Prepare speeches, talking points, and presentations for City officials
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or related field
- Minimum 3 years of experience in public relations or communications, preferably in government
- Exceptional writing and editing skills with portfolio of published work
- Strong media relations experience and established press contacts
- Proficiency in digital communication tools and social media management
- Ability to work in fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects
- Deep understanding of public sector operations and government protocols
- Valid California driver's license
