Responsibilities
- Receive and prioritize emergency/non-emergency calls via 911, 311, and direct lines
- Dispatch police, fire, and EMS units using computer-aided dispatch (CAD) systems
- Provide pre-arrival medical instructions (CPR, childbirth, etc.) to callers
- Maintain accurate call logs and incident documentation
- Coordinate multi-agency responses during major incidents
- Operate radio systems and emergency notification platforms
- Train new dispatchers on protocols and equipment
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED accepted)
- Ability to pass background check and drug screening
- Valid Kentucky driver's license
- Typing speed of 40+ WPM
- Ability to work rotating shifts (nights, weekends, holidays)
- Calm demeanor during high-stress situations
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and basic computer systems
- Excellent communication and active listening skills
