Job Overview
As a Public Safety Officer, you will play a vital role in maintaining the safety and security of Miami residents and visitors. You will be responsible for patrolling assigned areas, responding to emergencies, and enforcing local ordinances to ensure a safe environment for all.
Responsibilities
- Patrol assigned districts and neighborhoods to deter crime and ensure public safety.
- Respond promptly to emergency calls, accidents, and non-emergency incidents.
- Enforce local, state, and federal laws while exercising sound judgment.
- Prepare detailed written reports regarding incidents, arrests, and observations.
- Assist in traffic control, accident investigation, and crowd management.
- Monitor surveillance equipment and CCTV systems to identify potential threats.
- Provide community assistance and education on public safety programs.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
- Valid Florida Class E Driver's License required.
- Must pass a comprehensive background investigation and drug screen.
- Ability to stand, walk, and run for extended periods as required by duty.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Basic knowledge of emergency procedures and first aid is a plus.
- Must meet physical fitness standards set by the department.
