Responsibilities
- Conduct field inspections of construction projects to ensure compliance with city codes and safety standards
- Review engineering plans and specifications for accuracy and feasibility
- Investigate citizen complaints related to public infrastructure issues
- Prepare detailed inspection reports and maintain accurate documentation
- Coordinate with contractors, engineers, and other city departments
- Enforce compliance with federal, state, and local regulations
- Provide technical guidance to construction crews and project stakeholders
Qualifications
- Associate's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Technology, or related field
- Minimum 3 years of construction inspection or public works experience
- Valid Nebraska Driver's License with clean driving record
- ICBO Certification or ability to obtain within 6 months
- Strong knowledge of OSHA and local building codes
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions
- Proficiency with inspection software and GIS mapping tools
