Responsibilities
- Maintain and Repair Infrastructure: Perform routine maintenance and repairs on streets, sidewalks, storm drains, and municipal buildings to ensure operational efficiency.
- Operate Heavy Machinery: Safely and efficiently operate heavy equipment, including dump trucks, backhoes, and loaders, adhering to all safety protocols.
- Inspect Public Assets: Conduct thorough inspections of city properties and facilities to identify potential hazards and areas requiring improvement.
- Emergency Response: Respond promptly to emergency situations, such as water main breaks or severe weather damage, to restore normal city operations.
- Project Coordination: Assist in the planning and execution of city improvement projects, ensuring they are completed on time and within budget.
Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma or GED equivalent required; technical certification in a related field is a plus.
- Licensure: Valid Class C Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) is preferred or required depending on specific equipment operation.
- Experience: Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in public works, construction, or general maintenance.
- Skills: Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, welding, and hydraulic equipment.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to lift heavy objects, work in various weather conditions, and stand for extended periods.
