Responsibilities
- Maintain Infrastructure: Perform general maintenance and repair of city streets, sidewalks, public facilities, and traffic control devices.
- Operate Equipment: Safely and efficiently operate heavy machinery, including snowplows, dump trucks, and jackhammers.
- Emergency Response: Respond to emergency service requests and inclement weather situations to ensure community continuity.
- Inspections: Conduct routine inspections of infrastructure to identify hazards, wear and tear, or damage requiring repair.
- Safety Compliance: Adhere strictly to all safety regulations, OSHA standards, and city protocols while on duty.
- Community Support: Assist in park maintenance and beautification projects to enhance the quality of life for Columbus residents.
- Team Collaboration: Work closely with a diverse team of professionals to complete projects on time and within budget.
Qualifications
- Education: High School Diploma or GED equivalent required; trade school certification in a related field is a plus.
- License: Valid Ohio Driverβs License with a clean driving record is mandatory.
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in general maintenance, construction, or public works.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to pass a physical examination, including lifting requirements and agility tests.
- Skills: Proficiency in using hand tools, power tools, and basic diagnostic equipment.
- Availability: Willingness to work flexible hours, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
- Communication: Strong verbal communication skills and the ability to follow written and oral instructions.
