Responsibilities
- Perform routine inspections and preventative maintenance on municipal infrastructure, including roads, drainage systems, and water mains.
- Operate heavy machinery and construction equipment safely and efficiently, including backhoes, dump trucks, and mowers.
- Repair and replace damaged utility lines, traffic signs, and street furniture to maintain city aesthetics and safety standards.
- Respond to emergency maintenance requests and natural disaster recovery efforts as directed by supervisors.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to plan and execute large-scale infrastructure projects within the city.
- Maintain accurate logs and reports of work performed, material usage, and equipment status.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and OSHA regulations to ensure a secure working environment.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent required; technical certification or vocational training in a related field is a plus.
- Valid Texas Class C Driver’s License with a clean driving record is mandatory.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in public works, construction, or general maintenance preferred.
- Ability to lift heavy objects (up to 50 lbs) and perform physical labor in various weather conditions.
- Basic knowledge of hand and power tools, as well as hydraulic and electrical systems.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Willingness to work occasional overtime, weekends, or during inclement weather.
