Responsibilities
- Maintain and repair municipal facilities, parks, and transportation infrastructure
- Operate heavy machinery including dump trucks, graders, and trenchers
- Perform routine inspections of public works equipment and facilities
- Implement erosion control and stormwater management best practices
- Collaborate with engineering teams on infrastructure improvement projects
- Adhere to OSHA safety protocols and environmental regulations
- Respond to emergency weather-related infrastructure repairs
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; vocational/technical degree preferred
- Minimum 2 years experience in public works or facility maintenance
- Valid North Carolina Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL)
- OSHA 10-hour construction certification
- Proficiency with GIS mapping and maintenance management software
- Ability to lift 50+ pounds and work in extreme weather conditions
- Strong mechanical aptitude and equipment troubleshooting skills
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
