Responsibilities
- Perform routine inspections and preventative maintenance on city streets, sidewalks, and drainage canals.
- Operate heavy machinery and equipment, including backhoes, dump trucks, and jackhammers, in accordance with safety protocols.
- Repair and maintain traffic signs, guardrails, and street lighting to ensure public safety.
- Clear debris and sediment from drainage systems during heavy rain events to prevent flooding.
- Assist in the installation and repair of underground utility lines and sewer infrastructure.
- Follow strict safety guidelines and OSHA regulations to maintain a hazard-free work environment.
- Collaborate with city engineers and other departments to address infrastructure concerns.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent required; technical or trade school certification is a plus.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in public works, construction, or general maintenance.
- Valid Class C Driver's License (CDL preferred for specific roles).
- Ability to pass a physical examination and drug screen.
- Basic knowledge of mechanical systems and hydraulic machinery.
- Willingness to work in various weather conditions and physically demanding environments.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
