Responsibilities
- Maintain Infrastructure: Perform routine maintenance and repair on streets, sidewalks, storm drains, and public facilities to ensure safety and accessibility.
- Operate Equipment: Safely operate heavy machinery and tools, including dump trucks, backhoes, and jackhammers, following all safety protocols.
- Inspect Work Sites: Conduct thorough inspections of public works projects to ensure quality control and adherence to city standards.
- Emergency Response: Respond promptly to emergency service calls, including pothole repairs and flood control needs, regardless of weather conditions.
- Community Service: Interact with the public professionally, answering inquiries and providing assistance regarding city services.
Qualifications
- Education: High School Diploma or GED equivalent is required.
- Driver's License: A valid California Class C Driver's License is mandatory.
- Physical Fitness: Ability to perform manual labor, including lifting 50+ pounds and standing for extended periods in various weather conditions.
- Experience: Previous experience in construction, landscaping, or general maintenance is highly preferred.
- Skills: Basic mechanical knowledge and the ability to follow verbal and written instructions are essential.
