Responsibilities
- Direct and coordinate public works projects including road maintenance, water systems, and facility management
- Develop and manage departmental budgets ensuring fiscal responsibility
- Supervise staff and contractors to ensure compliance with safety regulations and quality standards
- Implement sustainable infrastructure solutions aligned with city strategic goals
- Prepare and submit progress reports to city council and stakeholders
- Coordinate emergency response protocols for weather-related events
- Foster collaborative relationships with other city departments and community organizations
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Public Administration, or related field
- Minimum 5 years of experience in public works or municipal management
- Valid North Carolina driver's license with clean record
- Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and ADA compliance standards
- Proven experience with budget development and infrastructure project management
- Excellent communication and leadership skills
- Possess or obtain within 6 months: North Carolina Public Works Manager certification
- Ability to work flexible hours including emergency situations
