Responsibilities
- Perform routine maintenance and repair of public roads, sidewalks, and drainage systems.
- Execute snow and ice removal operations during severe weather events.
- Inspect municipal facilities and public equipment to ensure safety compliance.
- Operate heavy machinery, such as dump trucks and graders, following all safety protocols.
- Respond to emergency maintenance requests and public service inquiries.
- Maintain accurate records of work performed and materials used.
- Collaborate with city departments to ensure cohesive infrastructure development.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required; Associate's degree in Civil Engineering or related field preferred.
- Valid Virginia Driver’s License with a clean driving record.
- Physical ability to perform manual labor, including lifting up to 50 lbs and working in various weather conditions.
- Experience with construction equipment and public works maintenance is highly desirable.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently.
- Excellent communication skills and a commitment to community service.
