Responsibilities
- Perform routine maintenance and repair of roadways, sidewalks, and curbs to ensure safe passage for all users.
- Operate heavy machinery and specialized hand tools, including paving machines, jackhammers, rollers, and asphalt patchers.
- Install, repair, and maintain traffic control signs, signals, and barricades in compliance with safety regulations.
- Inspect work sites for potential hazards, drainage issues, and structural damage, reporting findings to supervisors immediately.
- Load and unload construction materials, gravel, and asphalt with precision and efficiency.
- Ensure strict adherence to OSHA safety protocols and DC government operational standards at all times.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, including vehicle and equipment maintenance.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent is required.
- Valid Class C Driver’s License with a clean driving record is mandatory.
- Physical stamina to perform heavy lifting (up to 50 lbs) and work in various weather conditions.
- Previous experience in construction, road maintenance, or a related municipal field is preferred but not always required.
- Ability to pass a comprehensive background check, drug screening, and physical agility test.
- Strong commitment to public safety, attention to detail, and the ability to work as part of a team.
