Responsibilities
- Oversee municipal elections, voter registration, and ballot initiatives with precision
- Manage official records, archives, and public information requests in compliance with CA Gov Code
- Suppose City Council proceedings, including agenda preparation, minute-taking, and ordinance codification
- Lead departmental modernization of records management systems and digital workflows
- Ensure compliance with Brown Act requirements and public meeting accessibility standards
- Direct staff training on records retention policies and legal compliance protocols
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years municipal government experience with 2+ years in supervisory role
- Certified Municipal Clerk (CMC) designation required
- Expertise in California election law, public records management, and legislative processes
- Advanced proficiency in records management software (e.g., Laserfiche, DocuWare)
- Exceptional communication skills with ability to present complex information to diverse audiences
- Proven crisis management experience during high-stakes election cycles
- Master's degree in Public Administration or related field preferred
