Responsibilities
- Manage and preserve official municipal records, ordinances, and meeting minutes with precision
- Oversee public records requests and ensure compliance with open records laws
- Coordinate city council agendas, prepare packets, and document proceedings
- Administer oaths, issue permits/licenses, and perform notarial services
- Lead digital records modernization initiatives and archival systems
- Serve as primary liaison between citizens and city government
- Supervise clerk staff and implement process improvements
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Public Administration, Business, or related field
- 5+ years municipal government or records management experience
- NC Notary Public commission required (or ability to obtain within 30 days)
- Expert knowledge of open records laws (NC G.S. 132) and municipal procedures
- Advanced proficiency in records management software and document automation
- Exceptional written/verbal communication and customer service skills
- Proven ability to manage confidential information with discretion
- Experience supervising teams and implementing workflow efficiencies
