Your Impact:
As a Senior Analyst, you will bridge the gap between technical data science and strategic policy implementation. Your work will ensure transparency, efficiency, and equity in how we manage city resources.
Responsibilities
- Lead Data Strategy: Design and implement robust data collection, cleaning, and analysis frameworks to support urban planning initiatives.
- Advanced Visualization: Create interactive dashboards and visual reports using Tableau or Power BI to communicate complex findings to non-technical stakeholders.
- Policy Support: Provide in-depth statistical analysis to support the Department's strategic planning, zoning, and environmental review processes.
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Partner with city agencies, community boards, and external partners to define data requirements and deliver tailored analytical solutions.
- Quality Assurance: Ensure the integrity, accuracy, and security of all data assets managed by the department.
- Training & Mentorship: Mentor junior analysts and conduct training sessions on data best practices and tools.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Data Science, Urban Planning, Economics, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in data analysis, preferably within the public sector or a large-scale government organization.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in SQL for complex querying; experience with programming languages such as Python or R; strong knowledge of data visualization tools (Tableau, Power BI, or Qlik).
- Communication: Exceptional ability to translate technical data into clear, concise narratives for executive leadership and community audiences.
- Regulatory Knowledge: Understanding of New York City zoning laws, land use regulations, and public procurement processes is a plus.
- Soft Skills: Strong problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
