Responsibilities
- Lead the end-to-end design, development, and maintenance of advanced GIS databases and mapping applications for statewide infrastructure projects.
- Conduct complex spatial analyses and geostatistical modeling to support highway planning, construction, and safety initiatives.
- Collaborate closely with civil engineers, urban planners, and external stakeholders to visualize data and solve critical infrastructure challenges.
- Provide expert technical training and mentorship to junior staff and other departments regarding GIS software (ArcGIS/QGIS) and methodologies.
- Ensure strict data integrity, accuracy, and compliance with all state and federal geospatial standards and regulations.
- Manage project timelines, budgets, and deliverables for GIS software development and data integration projects.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Geography, Geomatics, Computer Science, Civil Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) within a government or technical environment.
- Advanced proficiency in ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Server, and QGIS desktop applications.
- Strong working knowledge of SQL, Oracle, or other relational database management systems.
- Experience with remote sensing data, LiDAR processing, or Python scripting for automation is highly preferred.
- Excellent analytical problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail.
