Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and maintain the county's wide-area network (WAN) and local-area network (LAN) infrastructure to ensure high availability and performance.
- Oversee the security protocols and firewalls to protect sensitive county data and comply with federal and state cybersecurity regulations.
- Provide advanced technical support and troubleshooting for hardware, software, and network issues for county departments.
- Manage vendor relationships and oversee the procurement process for IT equipment and software licenses.
- Lead or participate in the planning and execution of major IT projects, including system upgrades and migrations.
- Conduct regular system audits and performance monitoring to identify potential risks and areas for optimization.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and extensive experience.
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in network administration, system engineering, or IT support.
- Certifications such as CCNP, CCIE, CISSP, or PMP are highly preferred.
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Windows Server, Active Directory, Linux, and virtualization technologies (VMware/Hyper-V).
- Proven experience with cybersecurity best practices, including firewall management and patch management.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical staff.
