The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs is seeking a highly skilled Senior Information Technology Specialist to join our team in Sacramento, CA. This is an immediate hire opportunity for a dedicated professional to drive cybersecurity initiatives and ensure the integrity of our federal systems.
About the Role:
We are looking for an expert in information security to design, implement, and manage robust security architectures. In this role, you will protect sensitive veteran data and lead critical IT projects in a fast-paced federal environment.
Responsibilities
- Lead Cybersecurity Operations: Oversee the implementation and maintenance of security controls to protect federal information systems from cyber threats.
- Incident Response: Direct the investigation and remediation of security incidents, ensuring rapid recovery and minimal disruption to services.
- System Administration: Manage and configure enterprise-level servers, databases, and network infrastructure using modern cloud technologies.
- Compliance & Auditing: Ensure strict adherence to federal regulations, including FISMA, NIST, and OMB guidelines through regular audits and risk assessments.
- Project Management: Lead cross-functional teams in the development and deployment of IT solutions, utilizing Agile and Waterfall methodologies.
- Traffic Analysis: Analyze network traffic logs to identify anomalies and potential vulnerabilities in real-time.
- Tech Stack Management: Maintain and upgrade legacy systems while integrating modern cloud services (AWS/Azure) where applicable.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related field from an accredited college or university.
- Experience: At least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-9 level performing IT security analysis, risk assessment, and system administration.
- Clearance: Active Secret Security Clearance required (or ability to obtain).
- Licensure: Must possess a current, valid certification such as CISSP, CEH, or Security+.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in scripting languages (Python, PowerShell) and familiarity with SIEM tools (Splunk, QRadar).
- Communication: Exceptional ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and leadership.
- U.S. Citizenship: Required for federal employment.
