Responsibilities
- Design and implement enterprise-level security solutions including firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and encryption protocols
- Conduct regular vulnerability assessments and penetration testing to identify system weaknesses
- Develop and maintain comprehensive security documentation, policies, and incident response plans
- Monitor security alerts and coordinate rapid incident response for cyber threats
- Ensure compliance with NIST, FISMA, and other government security frameworks
- Provide security guidance to development teams during system design and implementation
- Lead cross-functional security awareness training programs for city employees
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or related field (Master's preferred)
- Minimum 5 years of experience in IT security with government/public sector experience
- Professional certifications: CISSP, CISM, or CompTIA Security+
- Expert knowledge of cybersecurity frameworks (NIST, ISO 27001, FISMA)
- Strong experience with security tools: Splunk, Palo Alto Networks, Qualys
- Proven ability to develop and implement security policies and procedures
- Excellent analytical skills and ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
