Responsibilities
- Infrastructure Management: Design, deploy, and maintain virtualization environments using VMware and Hyper-V to optimize resource allocation.
- Security Compliance: Implement and enforce IT security policies, ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations (NIST, HIPAA, etc.).
- System Administration: Manage Active Directory, group policies, and identity management systems for over 50,000 state users.
- Technical Support: Serve as a Tier 3 escalation point for complex system issues, collaborating with help desk teams to resolve critical incidents.
- Hardware & Software: Oversee the procurement and lifecycle management of hardware, including servers, storage arrays, and networking equipment.
- Disaster Recovery: Develop and test business continuity plans and disaster recovery procedures to minimize downtime during outages.
- Documentation: Maintain comprehensive technical documentation, including network diagrams and configuration baselines.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field (or equivalent technical certification and experience).
- Experience: Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in system administration, with specific experience in a government or large enterprise environment.
- Technical Skills: Deep knowledge of Windows Server 2016/2019/2022, PowerShell scripting, and Active Directory management.
- Networking: Proficiency with TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and Cisco networking equipment (Routers/Switches).
- Security: Strong understanding of network security protocols, firewalls, and vulnerability management.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders.
