Responsibilities
- Project Design & Oversight: Lead the planning, design, and construction phases of municipal infrastructure projects, including streets, sidewalks, and bridges.
- Compliance & Regulation: Ensure all designs adhere to local, state, and federal building codes, accessibility standards (ADA), and environmental regulations.
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with city departments, contractors, and community groups to gather requirements and resolve complex engineering challenges.
- Technical Analysis: Conduct thorough site analyses, traffic studies, and cost estimations to optimize project feasibility and budget.
- Quality Assurance: Review technical drawings, specifications, and contract documents prepared by junior staff and external consultants.
- Community Engagement: Present project updates to the public and city council members, ensuring transparency and addressing community concerns.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
- Experience: Minimum of 5-7 years of progressive experience in municipal engineering, public works, or civil infrastructure.
- Licensure: Professional Engineer (PE) license in the State of Washington is highly required.
- Software Proficiency: Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Revit, or similar engineering software.
- Technical Knowledge: Deep understanding of Seattle Municipal Code and traffic engineering principles.
- Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to translate technical concepts for diverse audiences.
