Responsibilities
- Maintain and improve park facilities, grounds, and landscaping to ensure high standards of aesthetics, safety, and environmental sustainability.
- Plan, organize, and execute community recreational programs, sports leagues, and special events for diverse age groups.
- Inspect recreational equipment, structures, and playgrounds for safety compliance; perform immediate repairs or report maintenance needs.
- Enforce park rules and regulations to ensure a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for all visitors and patrons.
- Collaborate with city officials, community organizations, and volunteers to promote park usage and civic engagement initiatives.
- Manage inventory of park supplies, tools, and machinery; ensure proper storage and care.
- Respond to emergency situations and assist in disaster recovery efforts related to park infrastructure.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required; Associate’s degree in Parks Management, Horticulture, or a related field is a significant plus.
- Proven experience in grounds maintenance, landscaping, or recreational program coordination within a municipal or large-scale organizational setting.
- Physical stamina and strength to perform manual labor, including lifting heavy objects (up to 50 lbs) and working in various weather conditions.
- Valid Driver’s License with a clean driving record and the ability to operate park vehicles and machinery.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills for interacting with the public, staff, and city officials.
- Ability to pass a comprehensive background check and drug screening.
