Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the daily administration of the New York State Pension Plans, ensuring strict compliance with GML, ERISA, and federal regulations.
- Analyze complex pension calculations and resolve discrepancies in member accounts and benefit distributions.
- Provide expert guidance and technical support to members, HR representatives, and stakeholders regarding retirement eligibility and benefit calculations.
- Conduct internal audits and quality assurance reviews to maintain the highest standards of financial integrity and data accuracy.
- Collaborate with the Legal and Policy teams to interpret new legislation and update pension procedures accordingly.
- Prepare detailed reports and presentations for executive leadership on pension fund status and compliance metrics.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field required; Master’s degree preferred.
- A minimum of 5-7 years of progressive experience in pension administration, benefits management, or actuarial science.
- Deep knowledge of New York State Public Pension Laws (GML Article 11) and ERISA regulations is mandatory.
- Proficiency in financial systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) and advanced Excel skills (VLOOKUP, Pivot Tables, Macros).
- Strong analytical thinking with the ability to interpret complex financial data and communicate findings clearly.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to handle sensitive inquiries with discretion and professionalism.
