Responsibilities
- Administer pension plans for state employees including benefit calculations, contributions, and disbursements
- Ensure compliance with ERISA, IRS regulations, and California state pension laws
- Develop and implement strategic retirement plan enhancements using actuarial data
- Conduct comprehensive audits and risk assessments of pension portfolios
- Collaborate with HR departments and financial institutions on plan optimization
- Prepare detailed financial reports and legislative presentations
- Manage vendor relationships and technology systems supporting pension operations
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Actuarial Science, Public Administration, or related field
- 5+ years of pension plan administration experience in government or regulated environments
- Professional certification (CEBS, ASPA, or CFA) preferred
- Expertise in ERISA, IRS 401(k) regulations, and California pension codes
- Advanced proficiency in pension administration software (e.g., Oracle Benefits, FIS)
- Strong analytical skills with experience in financial modeling and forecasting
- Exceptional communication abilities for presenting complex financial data
- Valid California driver's license and clean driving record
