Responsibilities
- Develop and implement evidence-based policies addressing urban development, infrastructure, and economic growth in Detroit
- Analyze complex legislative proposals and regulatory frameworks to assess impacts on state operations
- Lead stakeholder engagement initiatives with community leaders, businesses, and government agencies
- Prepare comprehensive policy briefings, reports, and recommendations for senior leadership
- Monitor policy implementation effectiveness and recommend data-driven adjustments
- Coordinate interdepartmental projects to align with Michigan's strategic priorities
- Represent the department in public forums and legislative hearings
Qualifications
- Master's degree in Public Policy, Urban Planning, Public Administration, or related field
- 5+ years of progressive policy development experience in government or public sector
- Expertise in urban development, economic revitalization, or community engagement strategies
- Advanced proficiency in policy analysis, quantitative research, and stakeholder management
- Deep understanding of Michigan state government operations and legislative processes
- Exceptional written/verbal communication skills with ability to translate complex concepts
- Proven track record of leading successful cross-functional initiatives
- Valid Michigan driver's license and willingness to travel statewide
