Responsibilities
- Conduct routine inspections and preventative maintenance on municipal infrastructure, including roads, sidewalks, and public buildings.
- Operate and maintain heavy machinery and equipment, such as jackhammers, backhoes, and dump trucks, ensuring all safety protocols are strictly followed.
- Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical systems in public facilities to minimize downtime and ensure compliance with DC building codes.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to coordinate maintenance schedules and respond promptly to emergency repair requests.
- Maintain accurate records of work performed, inventory levels, and equipment maintenance logs.
- Enforce safety standards on job sites to protect both the public and fellow employees.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required; Associate's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field is preferred.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in public works, facilities maintenance, or a related technical field.
- Valid Driver's License and a clean driving record.
- Experience with OSHA safety regulations and local government compliance standards.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Physical stamina to perform manual labor in various weather conditions.
