Responsibilities
- Receive, screen, and process incoming emergency (911) and non-emergency calls with speed and accuracy.
- Dispatch police, fire, and EMS units to incident scenes based on location, type of emergency, and resource availability.
- Maintain accurate logs and records of all dispatch activities, unit status, and incident reports.
- Communicate effectively with field officers via radio, providing updates, instructions, and support during incidents.
- Monitor police radio frequencies for unit status, officer safety alerts, and priority calls.
- Update incident status in the Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD) system and relay critical information to responding units.
- Assist in the training of new dispatch personnel during the trainee phase.
Qualifications
- Must be a U.S. Citizen.
- Must possess a valid New Jersey Driver's License.
- High School Diploma or GED is required.
- Must successfully pass a comprehensive background investigation, psychological evaluation, and medical exam.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential for this role.
- Ability to multitask, prioritize tasks, and remain calm in high-stress situations.
- Basic computer proficiency and typing skills are preferred.
