Responsibilities
- Operate X-ray and millimeter wave scanners to screen carry-on and checked baggage for prohibited items
- Conduct thorough passenger screenings using advanced detection technology and manual search techniques
- Manage security checkpoint queues while maintaining professional demeanor under high-pressure situations
- Document security incidents and irregularities using standardized reporting procedures
- Collaborate with law enforcement and airport personnel to resolve security escalations
- Maintain strict confidentiality regarding airport operations and security protocols
- Perform baggage reconciliation and property handling in compliance with TSA guidelines
Qualifications
- U.S. citizenship or legal residency status with appropriate immigration documentation
- High school diploma or equivalent education (GED)
- Ability to pass extensive background investigation and security clearance
- Successfully complete TSA's Security Screener training program
- Proficient in operating electronic screening equipment and communication devices
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 70 pounds
- Strong observational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work flexible schedules including nights, weekends, and holidays
