Responsibilities
- Screen passengers and carry-on baggage for prohibited items using X-ray machines and manual inspection techniques
- Conduct pat-down searches and walk-through metal detector screenings as required
- Operate advanced security technology including CT scanners and explosive detection systems
- Maintain constant vigilance for suspicious activities and potential security threats
- Enforce TSA security protocols while maintaining professional and courteous interactions with travelers
- Document security incidents and prepare detailed reports for regulatory compliance
- Collaborate with law enforcement and airport personnel during emergency situations
Qualifications
- U.S. citizenship or legal resident status with required documentation
- Pass thorough background investigation and security clearance process
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED accepted)
- Successfully complete TSA's Security Screening Officer training program
- Strong communication skills and ability to remain calm under pressure
- Ability to work rotating shifts including early mornings, nights, weekends, and holidays
- Basic computer literacy for operating security systems
