Responsibilities
- Manage and preserve all official city records, ordinances, resolutions, and meeting minutes
- Prepare and distribute agendas, packets, and documentation for City Council meetings
- Administer oaths of office and serve as custodian of the city seal
- Oversee records management system ensuring compliance with FOIA and public access laws
- Coordinate municipal elections and voter registration processes
- Facilitate public records requests with efficient response protocols
- Develop and implement records retention policies aligned with state regulations
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Public Administration, Business, or related field
- Minimum 5 years municipal government or records management experience
- Advanced knowledge of Michigan's Open Meetings Act and FOIA regulations
- Proficiency with records management systems (e.g., Laserfiche, DocuWare)
- Exceptional organizational skills with ability to manage complex workflows
- Certified Municipal Clerk (CMMC) designation preferred
- Strong written/verbal communication and public presentation abilities
