Position Overview:
The IT Support Specialist will be responsible for providing technical assistance to county staff, maintaining hardware and software systems, and ensuring data security compliance. This is a critical role in our mission to serve the citizens of Tucson efficiently.
Responsibilities
- Provide Tier 2 technical support to county employees via phone, email, and in-person for hardware and software issues.
- Manage and maintain the local area network (LAN) and wide area network (WAN) infrastructure.
- Install, configure, and troubleshoot operating systems, printers, and peripheral devices.
- Monitor system performance and ensure data integrity and security protocols are strictly followed.
- Document all technical issues and resolutions in the helpdesk ticketing system to improve service efficiency.
- Collaborate with vendors to ensure timely maintenance and upgrades of government equipment.
- Assist in disaster recovery planning and execute backup procedures to protect sensitive government data.
Qualifications
- Education: Associate’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field; or equivalent work experience.
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience in IT support or system administration.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in Windows Server, Active Directory, and network troubleshooting.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical staff.
- Security Clearance: Ability to obtain and maintain a government security clearance.
- Problem Solving: Strong analytical skills with a focus on finding effective solutions quickly.
- Flexibility: Willingness to work occasional evenings or weekends during system maintenance windows.
