Join the City of Omaha as we seek a skilled IT Systems Administrator to support our critical infrastructure. This is an urgent hiring opportunity for a detail-oriented professional to ensure our government systems remain secure, reliable, and efficient.
In this role, you will play a pivotal part in maintaining the digital backbone of our municipal operations, serving the community with top-tier technical support and infrastructure management.
Responsibilities
- Manage and maintain the City's local area network (LAN) and wide area network (WAN), ensuring high availability and performance.
- Administer and troubleshoot server hardware, operating systems, and virtualization platforms (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V).
- Implement and enforce network security protocols to protect sensitive government data and comply with federal and state regulations.
- Provide technical support and guidance to internal staff, resolving hardware and software issues efficiently.
- Perform regular system backups, disaster recovery testing, and maintenance updates.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to plan and execute IT infrastructure projects.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in systems administration or IT support in a government or enterprise environment.
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field preferred.
- Strong knowledge of Active Directory, Windows Server, and Linux operating systems.
- Certifications such as CompTIA Server+, Network+, or Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator are a plus.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Clear background check and ability to pass a drug screening as required for government employment.
