Responsibilities
- Oversee the daily administration of the state-mandated pension and retirement plans for all county employees.
- Process retirement applications, survivor benefits, and refund requests with strict adherence to compliance standards.
- Analyze actuarial reports and pension funding data to ensure fiscal responsibility and accurate forecasting.
- Conduct regular audits of member records to ensure data integrity and accuracy within the HRIS system.
- Act as the primary liaison for member inquiries regarding eligibility, vesting, and benefit calculations.
- Ensure full compliance with ERISA, FERS, and state-specific public employee pension laws.
- Prepare and present quarterly reports to the Board of Supervisors regarding pension fund status.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Public Administration, Human Resources, or a related field is required.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in public sector benefits administration, pension management, or actuarial support.
- Deep understanding of ERISA, FERS, and California Public Employee Retirement System (CalPERS) regulations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and HRIS software (e.g., Workday, SAP, or Ceridian).
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data and regulations.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills for interacting with senior management and the public.
