Responsibilities
- Monitor Communication Systems: Receive, process, and dispatch emergency and non-emergency calls via radio and telephone.
- Coordinate Response: Effectively communicate with law enforcement, fire, and EMS personnel to ensure rapid response times.
- Maintain Records: Accurately log incident details, officer activity, and resource allocation into computer-aided dispatch (CAD) systems.
- Provide Information: Assist the public with non-emergency inquiries, directions, and community information.
- Shift Work: Work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays as required to ensure 24/7 coverage.
- Emergency Management: Assist in the dissemination of emergency alerts and instructions to the public during critical incidents.
Qualifications
- Education: High School Diploma or GED required.
- Age: Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Driver's License: Valid Kansas driver's license with a satisfactory driving record.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to remain calm under pressure.
- Technical Proficiency: Basic computer skills and the ability to learn new software systems quickly.
- Background: No felony convictions or disqualifying criminal history (standard background check required).
