Responsibilities
- Answer emergency and non-emergency calls with professionalism and empathy
- Dispatch police, fire, and medical personnel to emergency scenes
- Operate computer-aided dispatch (CAD) and radio communication systems
- Maintain accurate call logs and incident documentation
- Provide critical information to field units and other agencies
- Remain calm under high-pressure situations during emergencies
- Complete mandatory training programs to become a certified dispatcher
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
- U.S. citizenship and valid California driver's license
- Ability to type 40+ WPM (typing test required)
- Clear criminal background and passing drug screening
- Excellent communication and multitasking skills
- Ability to work rotating shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays
- Basic computer proficiency and aptitude for learning technical systems
- Minimum 18 years of age at time of application
