Responsibilities

  • Monitor and Control Systems: Operate and monitor SCADA systems, pumps, valves, and chemical feeders to maintain optimal water quality parameters (pH, chlorine, turbidity, etc.).
  • Chemical Handling: Safely prepare, measure, and dispense chemicals (chlorine, ammonia, lime) used in the treatment process according to safety protocols.
  • Sampling and Testing: Perform routine laboratory tests on water samples to ensure compliance with state and federal EPA regulations.
  • Preventive Maintenance: Conduct daily inspections of plant equipment and facilities to identify potential issues and perform minor repairs or report them to maintenance staff.

Qualifications

  • Education: High School Diploma or GED required; Technical certification in water treatment or chemical engineering is preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in water treatment or wastewater operations.
  • Licensure: Must possess a valid Class C Nebraska Driver’s License and a Grade II Water Treatment Operator license (or obtain within 12 months).
  • Technical Skills: Basic knowledge of hydraulics, pumps, and mechanical systems; familiarity with SCADA systems is a plus.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to work in various weather conditions and perform physical tasks including lifting up to 50 lbs, standing for extended periods, and climbing ladders.
