Your Role
As the City Clerk, you will manage the day-to-day operations of the Clerk's Office, ensuring that all city ordinances, resolutions, and meeting minutes are accurately recorded and maintained. You will serve as the primary point of contact for the public regarding official records and administrative requests.
Responsibilities
- Record Management: Maintain accurate and up-to-date official city records, including meeting minutes, ordinances, resolutions, and contracts.
- Meeting Coordination: Prepare agendas, take minutes, and coordinate logistics for City Council and Committee meetings.
- Public Information: Respond to public inquiries regarding city policies, meeting schedules, and public records requests in a timely and professional manner.
- Administrative Support: Assist in the preparation of reports, correspondence, and legal documents for the Mayor and City Council.
- Permitting & Licensing: Oversee the processing of various municipal permits and licenses to ensure compliance with local and state regulations.
- Compliance: Ensure all office operations adhere to state public records laws and city bylaws.
Qualifications
- Education: High School Diploma or GED equivalent required; Associate’s degree in Public Administration, Business, or a related field is preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience in an administrative or clerical role, preferably within a government or municipal setting.
- Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and experience with records management software.
- Attention to Detail: Exceptional ability to maintain confidentiality, manage large volumes of data, and ensure high accuracy in all documentation.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with diverse groups of people.
- Integrity: Strong ethical standards and the ability to exercise sound judgment in decision-making.
