Responsibilities
- Manage official city records, ordinances, and council minutes with meticulous accuracy
- Oversee municipal elections and voter registration processes
- Administer public records requests and ensure compliance with open records laws
- Coordinate with city council, mayor's office, and department heads on legislative matters
- Prepare and publish public notices, agendas, and legal advertisements
- Maintain the city's official seal and certification of documents
- Implement records retention policies and digital archiving systems
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Public Administration, Political Science, or related field
- Minimum 5 years of municipal clerk or public sector experience
- Texas Municipal Clerk Certification (or ability to obtain within 6 months)
- Expert knowledge of Texas Open Records Act and election laws
- Proficiency in records management software (e.g., Laserfiche, DocuWare)
- Exceptional written communication and document drafting skills
- Ability to manage sensitive information with discretion and confidentiality
