As the City Clerk, you will serve as the primary point of contact for the City Council and the general public, ensuring the integrity of official records and the smooth execution of municipal business. We are looking for a dedicated individual ready to take on a key leadership role in our city's administration.
Responsibilities
- Prepare, distribute, and maintain official minutes and records for all City Council and Committee meetings.
- Oversee the management of the City’s official correspondence, including the handling of public inquiries, FOIA requests, and legal filings.
- Ensure strict compliance with federal, state, and local statutes regarding municipal records retention and privacy.
- Coordinate logistics for Council meetings, including agenda preparation, venue setup, and member communication.
- Maintain the City Charter and bylaws, ensuring all municipal actions adhere to established governance protocols.
- Supervise and train administrative staff within the Clerk’s office to ensure operational excellence.
- Manage the procurement and distribution of official City seals, signatures, and legal documents.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required; Associate’s degree or Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration, Political Science, or a related field is strongly preferred.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of progressive experience in municipal government, administrative support, or legal administration.
- Proven proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and experience with specialized government software or document management systems.
- Strong knowledge of Wisconsin State statutes and local government structure.
- Exceptional attention to detail with the ability to maintain confidential records with absolute discretion.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with elected officials, staff, and the public.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
